Design & Built

Flaunting a brushed metal look with sharp edges and matte finish rear flap, Asus Zenfone 5 exudes a premium feel to some extent. The Moto G also looks great with its shiny black front panel, rounded corners, and curved back. With a 10.3 mm thickness profile, the Zenfone 5 is slightly lighter than its competitor which stands at 11.6 mm thickness.

Features

Sporting a 5-inch IPS display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and 293 ppi, the Zenfone 5 offers a larger screen as compared to its arch rival. It promises to deliver balanced color reproduction with good viewing angles. Meanwhile, Moto G, with its modest 4.5-inch LCD display, same 720×1280 pixels resolution, and pixel density of 329 ppi, renders crisp text, images, and videos.

Equipped with a splendid Intel Atom Z2560 1.6GHz dual-core processor, the Zenfone 5 comes with hyperthreading technology, which enables the phone to act as a quad-core CPU when there are too many processes running simultaneously. The smartphone comes loaded with a whopping two gigs of RAM.

On the other hand, Motorola Moto G derives its power from a relatively faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor. However, the phone packs only 1 GB of RAM.

While both the phones run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, Zenfone 5 brings an inbuilt storage of 8 GB with MicroSD slot for expansion up to 64 GB. Moto G boasts of a capacious 16 GB of internal storage but lacks MicroSD support.

Camera

On the camera front, the Asus Zenfone 5 is a clear winner, by offering an 8 MP rear camera supported by LED Flash and a 2 MP front-facing snapper. Moto G comes loaded with a 5 MP primary camera with 720p video recording functionality & LED Flash, with a 1.3 MP shooter embedded at the front.

Connectivity

Both the phones offer similar connectivity features, which include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS, 3G, and Micro-USB, the only differentiating factor being that Moto G supports FM Radio which is not present in the Zenfone 5 smartphone.

Battery Life

On the battery front, the Zenfone offers a slightly upper hand by providing a 2,110 mAh of battery, as compared to Moto G’s 2070 mAh of juicer.

Price Range

The price of Motorola Moto G is approximately INR 13,000. There is no information on the price of Asus Zenfone 5 in India.

Considering the outstanding specs of Asus Zenfone 5 coupled with expected attractive pricing, the manufacturer is all set to give Motorola a run for their money. Nevertheless, a lot will depend upon the actual price offered by Asus for its newbie. Not to forget, the brand choice and trust are also important aspects to bear in mind while making the final decision.
