Have You Taken The Corporate Personality Test Yet?

Your personality test is an extension of your interview. So, if you’ve had your interview already or are about to take it, make sure that you act wisely and according to the answers in your personality test.

If the thought of never going through tests like in your college life, occurred in your mind the moment you passed out of college, let me warn you about being delusioned.

Recruiting managers are increasingly giving job candidates personality tests as a part of their hiring process. The test consists of a number of questions that helps them choose from among the candidates. When asked why personality tests matter so much, a hiring manager said that they predict whether a candidate will be successful, more accurately as compared to a personal interview. Also, because all the candidates get the same questions, it also helps the recruiting managers analyse them on a standard basis.

Taking a personality test could be quite risky for you, as you don’t get to charm the interviewer directly by your wits or knowledge. We suggest few ways to nail a corporate personality test. Read on!

1. Lie Detection
I am not talking about the kind you’ve seen on the TV. Your prospective employer is not going to hook you up to a machine, but a number of simple looking questions, which you answered might help them detect your personality easily. So while you answer a question, make sure that does not imply that you’re lying in order to look good. For example, from a statement like “I read newspaper everyday” and “I read every single section of all newspapers everyday”, it is easy for the manager to make out which is a lie.

2. Overdoing
It’s quite obvious that you’d want to make a good impression on your prospective employers. However, there are questions you are supposed to answer in a personality test which could exploit your desire to please the recruiter. So the best way to beat them at their own game is to be honest about your weak points. A little suppression of your flaws is okay. But don’t change them to an extent that changes your personality totally. Limit your cosmetic fixes to subjective questions that deal with your emotions or preferences.

3. Traits
Personality tests detect everything regarding your personality, which also include a check on your violent or socially deviant tendencies. Be very careful while answering questions related to situational analysis. They might seem easy to you, however the from the perspective of a recruiter, your way may not be the best way to deal with a risky situation.

4. Normal answer
When in doubt, your normal answer is the best answer to give. The biggest thing that separates personality tests from aptitude tests is the score and behaviour respectively. Even though your answers cannot be categorized as right or wrong, this is not the right time to show them that you’re a special snowflake. The best thing you could do is to answer the question normally, like others would do, and not make your prospective employers raise a red flag at the mention of your name. Thinking could be bad at times, especially when you’re doing a lot of it for a job.

Your personality test is an extension of your interview. So, if you’ve had your interview already or are about to take it, make sure that you act wisely and according to the answers in your personality test.
