One of the most beautiful feelings in the world is the touch of one’s lips against yours. It has the potential to blow your mind (and heart) away. And if it’s the all important ‘first’ kiss, the one touted to be the most magical moment of your life, we can imagine the state of your nerves. As so much is riding on it!
Everybody hopes for a ‘spontaneous’ first kiss, without the hassles of anticipation and worry as that can bring some really stupid thoughts into your head. Like these…read on!
Am I kissing okay?
There’s nothing called us kissing ‘okay’. When you’re in the flow, even if you’re doing it for the first time, you’ll get the hang of it. And sloppy first kisses are fun too. Once your lips touch the other person’s, nature will talk care of the rest. So stop fussing over this when you’re readying for your big kiss. Your passion and emotions will camouflage your nervousness and inexperience. Trust us on this.
When to get the tongue involved?
Well, sweethearts, you involve the tongue when you think it’s right. Generally, the first kiss is more of an elaborate peck on the lips than actual kissing as you’re just beginning to know each other. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t go tongue on him. Once you have got the rhythm right and your mouths are in sync, bring in just the hint of your tongue. If he/she reciprocates, you go full tongue on him/her. It’s that simple.
What if my breath isn’t fresh?
It’s a good idea to chew a mint or not eat garlic/onion before a kiss, especially the first one. As it will boost your confidence. But if the kiss is impromptu and you’ve not had the time to fix your oral hygiene, just go with the flow. In fact, laugh it off if she/he suddenly pulls away from the act. It’s totally okay to stink of food and beverages before a kiss. Because once you’re in the mood, these little things will not even matter.
Where should I hold/touch him/her?
This is the question most first timers have. Even though you have seen plenty of kisses on TV and even practiced a hundred with your pillow, when it comes down to actually kissing someone…it’s a different story altogether. Should you be grabbing her waist or touching his neck? Should you push your body against his or lean on her to kiss? Well, it depends on you. There are no rules and guidelines . In the heat of the moment, most of us hold onto whatever we can grab at that time. Whether it’s her shoulders or her face…just about anything that will get the two of you into the groove.
Should I keep my eyes open or closed?
Another very interesting and rather stupid thought we have is about the eyes. When you’re in the throes of passion, you’ll obviously tend to keep your eyes closed as you want to enjoy the moment. But there’s no harm in keeping them open either. Although it might look a tad creepy to your partner.
The first kiss will remain with you for the rest of your life. But don’t be afraid to make mistakes. And kiss with all the passion you can ever muster.
