Remember the Arvind Kejriwal from an year ago who went door to door asking people to help his party root out corruption? The same Kejriwal is now flying in jets and having dinner with big wigs in five star hotels to raise money for his party.
What is left there from which Kejriwal has not taken a U-turn?
Contrary to his promise of giving ticket to an aam aadmi in elections after reviewing applications for the same, he chose to back those names who were not only new to the anti-establishment party, they were once very much a part of the establishment itself.
Kejriwal gave ticket to Rajmohan Gandhi for the simple fact that he is the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
Meera Sanyal, Ashutosh, V Balakrishnan, Ashish Khetan, Shazia Ilmi, Manish Sisodia, Yudhvir Singh Khayalia – you name it. All were part of certain segments that Kejriwal has always said of maintaining distance from. And these segments are paid media and corporate set ups that AAP blames for all the ills in the country.
Adding to this list is Yogendra Yadav who was until two years ago Raul Gandhi’s mentor and advisor.
Although party claims to have internal democracy but its selection of candidates is like any other party – opaque and decided by a high command’s diktat.
Kejriwal has subtly embraced casteism, vote-bank politics, elitism, VIP netas, and even corruption and communalism.
Remember Delhi elections? Kejriwal asked for votes on the basis of religion and religious sentiments. Not only that, he made sky high promises and ran away from his responsibilities when he found it difficult to keep up with the system, which for the record, he wanted to change.
And what to say about the video that leaked into the media starrig him and Punya Prasoon Vajpayee? Given so much paid media bots in his party now, corrupting the rest of the media could have looked like an obvious choice.
Recent in his fold is dinner date with his potential doners in five star hotels. He has already done this in Nagpur and is now going to repeat it in Bengaluru. The dinner costs Rs 20,000 per person. Big industrialists are expected to arrive at this fundraiser dinner.
Kejriwal, who speaks about aam lifestyle, could have prepared pamphlets and sent it to the potential donors. Heck, he could have eaten dinner at some normal place where an aam aadmi can afford. But no, he chose a five star hotel.
