White may not be a colour that pops up as it’s too calm and cool. But there are ways to make white the highlight of your outing. It can instantly elevate your look. Don’t believe us? Here are ways to rock an all-white outfit. Read on:
Choose the right white:
Bright, sensational white doesn’t suit everybody. You need to know the shade that looks great on your skin, without making you look darker. If you have cool skin tones, bright whites (which also have cool undertones), if you happen to be bronze-toned, whites with a tinge of yellow, ecru (paired with gold accessories) will look great on you, while ebony-toned women can opt for pale whites to cream, ecru and yellow-dusted whites. For those blessed with warm skin tones, the best bet is creamy white and ivory as they will look rich against their skin tones. Olive skin tones work the best with ecru.
Accessory:
Depending on the shade of white you’re wearing, choose your accessory either in gold base (yellow, orange and red undertones; warm skin tones) or silver (blue and pink undertones; cool skin tones). You can wear long and chunky chains with a long top or pair a cropped top with a fancy choker that is either silver/gold. Coloured accessories look good too, but you have to know which ones to wear with which shade of white. It can look quite weird if you don’t pair the accessories correctly.
Mix up the whites:
Just because you have chosen to wear white, it need not make you look boring or dull. Break the monotony of the whites by mixing different shades together. For example, you can pair your ecru skirt with a cream cropped top and throw on a white jacket over it. Or wear a yellow-based white pants with a pink-tinged white top for that sexy chic look. Moreover, you can combine severe whites with a fluffy white base, so your outfit looks balanced and…hot!
Pop via bags, shoes and lips:
It’s the rule of thumb, really. When going white, introduce some colour via your bag, shoes, clutch or lips, but your other accessories need to be either gold or silver-based. Break an all-white gown with a pair of mint green shoes for a lazy Sunday brunch. Or opt for a cut-out silk frock in white with a wine red bag. You can even go for white pant-suit with coral/fuschia lips. If you’re wearing a summer dress in white that’s a tad simple for a last minute plan, thrown on a bright coloured belt/scarf to make a stylish statement.
Say no to clingy outfits:
White doesn’t look good when it clings to your skin, especially if your innerwear is of another colour! It’s better to wear flowy, light, fluffy outfits that are summer cool and casual. If you’re wearing white for a formal event, make sure it doesn’t cling to your skin in an unflattering way. You must invest in lingerie that’s of the same colour as your white outfit. If you have plans of getting wet, wear a white that has a lining on the inside, else the drenched top will show off your twins in the most unflattering way possible.
Don’t shy away from wearing this amazing shade, which looks great on almost all skin tone. If you’re not sure about an all-white ensemble, start off by wearing a white top or lower , graduating to a complete white mix.
