Red may be the most preferred colour when it comes to bridal outfits and make-up, but 2014 seems to be the year of green. The lush colour that looks smashing on every skin tone is slowly replacing red at weddings and sangeets. Here’s how you can rock this shade , be it as make-up or outfit. Read on!

Green shadow:
One of the trickiest shades to pull off when doing up the eyes is green. It can look too harsh if not done properly. Go for olive greens or greens with a light gold base. So your make-up looks classy and chic. Gold-based olives will look great on a bride-to-be as they are rich, glossy and very ‘in’. If your outfit is peach/rose or silver, green eyeshadow will look fabulous. If you mix gold with green, you can wear it with bold-coloured lehengas too.

Green nails:
If you want to add a bit of jazz in the nails department, painting them green is a wonderful way to stay in fashion. If your outfit is red or pink and you still want to rock green nails, go for nail art that uses your outfit shade as the base and draws on them with green. This is the best way to camouflage the harsh colour as it will most definitely clash with a bright lehenga/saree. If your outfit is rather sober or grey/silver/cream-based, go all out on the nails. You can choose from neon greens to lemons to grass greens, depending on your skin shade.

Green lehenga/saree/anarkali:
Rich greens look amazing on the brides . They are also perfect for photography and videography as bright colours look more dazzling than pale tones. You can even combine dark greens with midnight blue or bright red for that zingy effect. Another way to stand out is to go for an all-green saree with a hot pink blouse or throw in a bright orange chunni with a green lehenga. This colour block will make you the star of the evening for sure. If your outfit is bright, keep your bangles and other accessories in neutral than mathcy-matchy.

Green jewellery:
Gold is the standard gem to choose for weddings, but more and more brides are opting for emeralds and imitation stones to make their accessories more colourful and unique. Pairing green jewellery with red and gold is a rather cool idea as they will add definition to your outfit. If your outfit is dark red or pink with tiny bit of green beads or gold accents, go for emerald earrings and necklace. It will look ravishing on red. If your outfit happens to be gold or purple, go for green bangles with your outfit’s colour thrown in combinations. Stick to gold/silver jewellery. If your outfit happens to be champagne gold, deck yourself up in green jewellery for a stunning entrance.

Green may be the ‘hawt’ colour this season, but if you’re the kind that likes traditional reds, pinks and maroons, don’t be swayed by such trends. Stick to the shade that you know you can rock!
