Many songs over a period of time have been shot in similar settings
Each time you hear Suraj Hua Madham from K3G or Satrangi Re from Dil Se re or even Teri Ore from Singh is Kinng, what is the first image that pops in your head? Is it something like the heroine running across to the hero in a desert maybe with a pyramid in backdrop? Bingo! Sahi jawab!
Well, don’t be shocked but nowadays most of our Bollywood songs are being shot in similar settings resulting in the same look and feel. The question is, are we running short of locations and beautiful landscapes?
There was a time in Bollywood when songs were shot in the interiors of India and low-budget films used to shoot in Mumbai’s Chota Kashmir just to get the environment set up like the real paradise. But nowadays producers with big pockets spend tons of money shooting songs or even parts of songs in exotic locations like Egypt, Switzerland and around Europe, London and even USA. But what’s the point in spending so much money and using the exact same locations leaving no point to differentiate? It’s like all these songs are being manufactured from the same factory with similar packaging.
The latest song of Krrish 3, Dil Tu Hi Bataa, seems to hail from the same factory. In fact it looks like it has taken pointers from all the above mentioned songs and made a bhelpuri of sorts giving you each shot frame by frame. So where you remember Shahrukh Khan and Kajol running in front of the pyramids or Aamir Khan and Asin in the song Guzaarish, similarly Hrithik and Kangana too look lost in the desert. While it’s been said that this particular song has been short in Jordan then I would say it’s worse that they purposely made it look like the other songs. Ah, such a waste!
I have always found it funny as to how two actors who are shown to be living in proper cities are suddenly shown serenading each other in the midst of a desert. How unrealistic! But if this is the norm of Bollywood then well the least I expect is a good job out of it. I don’t mind seeing a Shahrukh Khan doing his famous ‘arm spreading’ pose on top of the Great Wall of China or in the middle of Dhobhi Ghat, but please give us something new, something fresh and something exotic.
