With two bigge mobiles lined up, the smartphone fraternity is abuzz and how! You can already see fanboys and fangirls running wild, what with Samsung’s sexy Phablet Galaxy Note 3 is hitting the markets soon, around the same time as Apple’s classy iPhone 5S. Which smartphone should you go for? We help you figure that out. Read on:
Display:
We wish Samsung made phones that would fit into our pockets. This huge handset easily dwarfs the iPhone and makes other phones look like toys in front of it. With a display of 5.7-inch, it’s a a massive phone that can’t be held with one hand. But this has its own cons, you can enjoy movies and games better due to the larger display and of course, you can run two applications on the screen, at the same time. This feature is sorely lacking in iOS7. On the other hand, iPhone 5S is far lighter and thinner than its Android counterpart. It boasts of a 4-inch Retina Display with a design that measures 7.6mm and 112 grams. But if you’re an avid gamer or reader, Note 3 would be a more logical choice.
Stylus:
The bundled up stylus of the Note 3 is what makes the phablet something more than a huge phone. With amazing touch-specific functionality, the stylus is bound to add a lot of zing to your everyday work. Known as the S Pen, it has been around since the original Galaxy Note, but the Note 3 has the most advanced S Pen with upgraded features. Meanwhile, iPhone doesn’t have any stylus and your fingers are all you have got. Hmm. Would these prove to be your deciding factor?
Software updates:
While Apple helps keep your phone constantly updated via various software upgrades, fixing of bugs and by bringing out advanced versions of the current iOS, the same cant be said for Samsung. It has struggled in the update department, especially in its Galaxy Note series and we don’t think this time it’s going to be any different. Apple takes these improvisations very seriously and does it with much fanfare, while Samsung does a cursory job of it.
Processor:
Apple has claimed that its latest baby is the only smartphone to have a 64-bit processor. The phone is powered by A7 dual-core processor, along with OpenGL ES v3.0 that can be useful for detailed graphics and complex visual effects. The Note 3 has two different configurations for its 3G and 4G (LTE) models. The former is further dived into processor variants: quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 and quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 and the latter comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset based quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor.
Camera:
The Note 3 comes with a stunning 13 megapixel rear camera with Ultra HD 4K video recording, Smart Stabilisation, along with high CRI LED flash features. iPhone, in comparison, has an 8 megapixel (3264 x 2448 pixels) iSight camera with true tone flash and auto image stabilisation. It also comes with a a 1.2 megapixel front camera. With the Apple baby, you can go all out and play around with these options- Mono, Tonal, Noir, Fade, Chrome, Process, Transfer and Instant. You can also systematically arrange and store your pictures via ‘Collections, Moments and Years’ features.
