Priyanka Chopra loves strutting her stuff in bodycons. A trend we are getting tired of. What about you?
That she has a stunning body is no secret. We have seen enough of her curves to last a lifetime, yet Priyanka Chopra aka PeeCee struts her stuff in bodycons. Be it her movies, promotional outings or laid back brunches with friends, the self-confessed ‘exotic’ beauty wears only body-hugging sheer dresses. ‘If you’ve it, you flaunt it’ is a good rule to follow. But NOT always!
When the former Miss World came to promote ‘Zanjeer’ on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol Junior’ in a printed body con that almost revealed her twin wonders, we passed it off as ‘in-character’. As PeeCee’s Mala from the action remake sports fitted dresses with killer heels. We really thought she was promoting her movie by staying true to her NRI character. It’s only later that we realised that her character is, in fact, based on her real life lover for sheer stuff. Bodycon is short for body conscious, which means the dress is really tight with no space for your flaws to seep through. And when this variety is worn in sheer fabrics, it’s a total recipe for disaster. But Ms Chopra has managed to avoid a wardrobe malfunction so far. We would really suggest her to jazz it up a bit and experiment with fitted pants, a tight pair of blazers, a flowing skirt with a thigh-high slit and hot pants. We are tired of seeing her in bodycons, fringes and killer heels package.
The actress-turned-singer, who is busy promoting her biggest movie this year ‘Krrish 3’, dropped in on the sets of Jhalak Dikhla Ja’s finale episode. Yes, she was seen in a cream bodycon (a cream studded crop top and matching skirt from The Source) , which was offset by her scarlet lips. Uff. In an industry where being slotted into categories is more common than overnight success stories, PeeCee is killing her career with her own hand. Due to her extremely westernized outlook (thanks to her so-called singing career), she is loosing out on plum roles that go beyond the convention. Her own cousin Parineeti Chopra’s ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ being an example.
We have seen enough of Chopra’s sculpted body to really fancy her onscreen. Now is the time for her re-invent herself and go for an image make-over (that doesn’t involve another facial surgery). In fact, it’s not just her dress. Her haristyle hasn’t changed in a decade either. The poker-straight, parlour-blown hair is so passe. It’s the age of tussled everyday mane. Apart from her drastic change in ‘Barfi!’, she has always been the sophisticated diva turned out in unaffordable brands and chemically treated hair. So. Boring.
Last year, the National Award-winning actress was going through a ‘mini dress’ phase. She would be spotted at all the events, parties and on reality shows in minis that would flatter her assets and a killer pair of heels to accentuate her pins. Despite being the ‘desi’ girl of B-Town, we have hardly seen in her sensuously draped saris, flowring anarkalis and asymmetrical kurtis. A little bit of ethnic touch will maker her the unparalleled diva of fashion. A title held by Sonam Kapoor, whose sartorial choices aren’t limited to a particular type or trend. Even she is long-legged with an enviable figure, but it doesn’t mean that she wear only a certain type of outfits.
Will the Chopra babe pay heed to us and change her style?
